Aussie lawyers serve notices on Facebook
An Australian Supreme Court judge has granted lawyers the right to serve legally binding documents by posting them on defendant's Facebook sites, the Sydney Morning Herald has reported.
The Canberra attorneys claim it as a world first.
Email and mobile phone text messages have been used before to serve court notices, but using Facebook appears to be a first.
The Canberra lawyers used private investigators and made 11 attempts to contact the defendants without success before applying to the court to use the defendants' Facebook profiles.
