Isle of Man signs tax information pact with Germany

The Isle of Man has signed a bilateral agreement with Germany for tax information exchange based on the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) model. This, along with the agreement in January with Australia, brings to 13 the number of such co-operation agreements The Isle of Man has entered into.

In a speech after the agreements were signed, the Isle of Man's Treasury Minister Allan Bell said that the "The Isle of Man has been committed to the OECD standards of transparency and effective exchange of information for tax purposes." Mr Bell said the Isle of Man has regulatory systems for all financial services that meet international standards.

Commenting on the agreement, Jeffrey Owens, Director of OECD¿s Centre for Tax Policy and Administration, said that "The time has now come for all jurisdictions that have made commitments to the international standards of transparency and exchange of information to follow the Isle of Man's lead".

Since the OECD developed it's tax information sharing model, 35 jurisdictions have entered into such agreements.
