Endoscopy Alberta expert witnesses provide opinions on endoscopy procedures and endoscopes, including the investigation of symptoms, cauterization, biopsies, poly removals and other procedures, most commonly involving the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract). These physicians and surgeons may opine on allegations of improper performance (commonly including issues involving perforations, infections and sedation), diagnosis errors (eg: missed colon cancer), failures to recognize complications and failures to communicate with patients.

These specialists may have expertise in one or mores specific endoscopy procedures, including colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, ERCP (Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography), rigid proctoscopy, EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy) and PEG (Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) procedures, as well as those involving surgery, such as colorectal surgery.
