Expert Witnesses & Forensic Consultants Directory
Disabled Access
Disabled Access expert witnesses provide opinions on barriers, or alleged barriers, to a disabled person’s access to physical and digital goods and services in areas open to the public by private entities and employers. The disabled access experts profiled in this directory may specialize in issues of physical access to business facilities open to the public, including issues of wheelchair-accessible restrooms and parking spaces, entrance ramps, power-assisted doors, etc. These disabled access professionals may also be Certified Access Specialists (CASp) providing inspections of barriers to access and written reports on compliance with state and federal accessibility rules, such as the federal ADA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities (ADAAG). These disabilityexperts may also provide opinions in digital access issues such as website accessibility and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, “WCAG” under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act [ADA]). Experts in disabled access issues listed here may also testify on damages awards for unintentional, inadvertent or minor violations of disabled access rules under state and federal law (eg: California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act and CDPA, the Architectural Barriers Act, the ADA, etc.) and enforcement actions.- United States
