Special Education

Special Education expert witnesses provide opinions and forensic reviews of matters pertaining to educationally disabled students, including issues in the implementation and interpretation of related federal and state laws and regulations.

These special education professionals may provide written expert opinions and testify on conflicts over eligibility, program appropriateness, restrictive environments and accommodation of disabled students, as well as other areas of dispute between special education administrators and parents, often in administrative law venues or due process hearings.

These experts may assist in resolving alleged failures to provide Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), to develop meaningful individual education plans IEPs and accomodation plans under Section 504, alleged failures to properly evaluate disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), reimbursement for private special education services and related matters.

The special education expert witnesses profiled in this directory may also testify in matters of alleged bullying, disciplinary measures, suspension and expulsion, including expulsion of children for behaviors related to their handicaps. These experts may opine on issues under Section 1983 and 14th Amendment obligations, including the deprivation of alleged student rights (eg: sexual molestation, corporal punishment), alleged discrimination based upon a disability and issues involving Settlement Agreements.
