Applied Forensic Engineering, LLC (AFE) is a multi-disciplined, independent consulting firm with an emphasis on forensic engineering investigations, condition assessments and expert witness services. Our clients include law firms, insurance companies, claim adjusting firms, corporations and individuals. AFE provides forensic investigations related to structural engineering, civil engineering, construction defects and disputes, building envelopes, waterfront structures, roofing and waterproofing failures, fire & explosion origin and cause, product defects, mold and mildew, accident reconstruction, and slip/trip & falls.
AFE's professional engineers, scientists and technical professionals will assist with loss determination, subrogation potential, and preparation for mediation, arbitration, or litigation. Mr. Steve D. Hodge, P.E. is the firm's Principle and is a licensed professional engineer with thirty nine years experience performing and managing civil, structural and environmental investigation, development and construction projects. He has acted as project manager and owner's representative for numerous retail, commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facility building efforts throughout the United States and internationally. He has managed approximately 100 asbestos & lead surveys, and abatement projects from New York to Florida as well as performing over 100 due diligence and condominium conversion investigations.
His experience in design and construction has led him to be called on to perform over 750 forensic failure analyses including construction defects/disputes, structural, roofing, foundation, waterfront, underwater, geotechnical, water infiltration, product defect, production piping, slip/trip and fall, and fire/explosion origin and cause investigations.
