Behrens Engineering Investigations, LLC
Areas of Expertise: Mechanical Engineering
Mr. Timothy C. Behrens is a registered Professional Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the engineering field. Mr. Behrens is also certified as an Accident Reconstructionist (by ACTAR), a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI-IAAI), a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI-NAFI) and a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI-NAFI). Mr. Behrens graduated with Honors from the University of Arizona in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, Mr. Behrens worked for 4 years at Garrett Turbine Engine Company as a design and project engineer. His experience included the analysis of gas turbine engine failures, which inspired his interest in the failure analysis and forensic engineering field. Mr. Behrens spent the next 12 years working for Failure Analysis Associates (now Exponent) as a Senior Engineer at the Test and Engineering Center in Phoenix, Arizona. During this time, Mr. Behrens gained practical experience by conducting several hundred tests including full-scale vehicle crashes, rollovers, handling stability, steering, brakes, tires, restraints, fuel systems, cooling systems, fires and component level tests. In addition, he has conducted numerous accident reconstructions, vehicle fire investigations and various product failure investigations, analyses and research. For the next 7 years, Mr. Behrens worked as a Senior Engineer with Engineering and Fire Investigations (now EFI Global). He specialized in motor vehicle and heavy equipment fires, failure analysis of motor vehicle components, including brakes, steering, throttle, restraints, tires and other mechanical systems. Mr. Behrens also developed expertise in the inspection of residential and commercial structures to evaluate the cause of foundation settling, cracks, construction defects and mold/water loss issues. Mr. Behrens also specializes in the engineering investigation of various water damage losses involving plumbing and fire sprinkler systems. In September 2006, Mr. Behrens started his own engineering firm, Behrens Engineering Investigations, LLC, to continue and expand his practice in the forensic engineering field.
