Bennett Blum, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist, fellowship-trained in forensic psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry, and a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He provides independent forensic psychiatric consultation and selected expert-witness services to attorneys in matters involving undue influence, testamentary and other mental capacity, elder financial exploitation, fiduciary abuse, coercion, consent, and retrospective assessment.

During more than 30 years of specialized work, Dr. Blum has participated in more than 1,000 forensic matters in the United States and internationally. He developed the IDEAL model for organizing evidence in undue-influence cases.

His experience includes testimony before the United States Senate concerning fraud targeting older adults; technical-advisory work for a national elder-financial-exploitation study; and competency proceedings before United Nations international criminal tribunals.

His analysis addresses supporting evidence, contradictory evidence, reasonable alternative explanations, and the material limits of the available record. He may assist as a confidential consultant, record reviewer, opposing-expert reviewer, report author, or testifying expert, depending on the matter.
