Motor vehicle accident reconstruction, biomechanical analyses, EDR downloads (car and heavy trucks), instrumented crash testing, slip/trip and fall analyses, and forensic animations/court exhibits are our primary specialties. ABE also performs in-depth analyses of all forms of accidents, including work place incidents and product defect occurrences. In general, ABE provides a wide range of accident reconstruction services, including litigation support immediately following an accident and continuing through the final court proceedings.

 

Qualified as an expert witness in court on hundreds of occasions, Brian K. Jones received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1994. At North Carolina State University, Brian Jones was a dean's list student and vice president of the NCSU chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Interested in the design and safety of motor vehicles, Mr. Jones focused elective studies on automotive engineering and internal combustion engines. Over the span of his career, Mr. Jones also became involved in occupant safety and injury biomechanics. As a result, Brian Jones entered graduate school and obtained a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering (Biomechanics & Human Factors option) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2008.

Since completion of his undergraduate studies, Mr. Jones has reconstructed thousands of motor vehicle/pedestrian accidents, performed hundreds of biomechanical and mechanical engineering analyses, and analyzed hundreds slip/trip and fall incidents.

Mr. Jones is a licensed Professional Engineer (CA & NV) in the mechanical discipline and holds full accreditation as a traffic accident reconstructionist with ACTAR. Additionally, Mr. Jones is certified by the Bosch/Vetronix Corporation and Berla Corporation to download and analyze crash and infotainment system data from vehicles. Mr. Jones routinely conducts instrumented motor vehicle crash tests pursuant to SAE J211 standards for research purposes and professional conferences such as the Southwest Association for Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI). He is also a professional member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists (NAPARS), Southwest Association of Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). Mr. Jones is also a proficient operator of the 3D Human Vehicle Environment (HVE) collision software produced by Engineering Dynamics Corporation, FARO Scene Scanner software, Pix4D drone software, AutoCAD, and PhotoModeler software.

Addtionally, Mr. Jones is an active standards voting member of ASTM F13 Pedestrian/ Walkway Safety and Footwear and Subcommittees F13.10 – Traction, F13.20 – Biomechanics and Footwear Construction, F13.40 – Research, and F13.50 – Walkway Surfaces. In fact, Mr. Jones is currently serving on an internal committee to revise ASTM standard F1694 Standard Guide for Composing Walkway Surface Evaluation and Incident Report Forms for Slips, Stumbles, Trips, and Falls. He is certified by the International Safety Academy as a competent English XL Variable Incidence Tribometer operator, proficient in the analysis of slips/trips and falls.
