Cattle, Operational Analysis, and Cattle Valuations
Areas of Expertise: Animal Appraisal
Tim Couch is an authority on livestock valuations, particularly with regard to cattle. His expertise also includes cattle ranch operational analysis, profit and loss analysis, and bovine reproduction. Mr. Couch is an accredited member of the International Society of Livestock Appraisers and has provided formal appraisals of thousands of cattle, both individually and whole herd.
In 2017, the Third Circuit Court and Supreme Court of Louisiana both qualified Mr. Couch as a livestock expert, especially with regard to cattle and cattle valuations. Though most of his experience has been in the field as a cattlemen, broker, consultant, and appraiser dealing with insurance companies and cattlemen, he has also served as an expert witness and consultant for cases in litigation. Each time he served on the side of the plaintiff, and each time there was a large win.
Tim Couch offers critical information regarding cattle herd growth, lost income, and the fair market value of a given herd. Though he has decades of experience, he does not ask anyone to believe him simply because he is the expert. Rather, Couch is able to support his decisions with scientific analysis and processes that are well documented and accepted throughout the industry. Additionally, he is able to present his findings in a manner that can be understood by a juror or a judge.
For the past 30 years, Mr. Couch has been the sole proprietor of a domestic and international cattle marketing agency. He continues to be actively engaged as a breeder, order buyer, and consultant; and, he serves on various committees within the Beefmaster cattle breed.
There is an old staying, "Those who CAN, DO. Those who CAN'T, TEACH." Though there may be a certain element of truth in this statement, Tim Couch does both. He remains actively involved in the cattle industry, and is well able to present professional, substantial, and critical data as a consultant and expert witness.
