At its core, microbial contamination in a building is a water issue. Leaks, pernicious condensation, humidity and ice are the basis for supporting microbial contamination claims. Evaluation of microbial growth (mold, fungi) requires a study of the transient nature of moisture damage. Hygrothermal analysis and a sound foundation in Psychrometrics and Physics are the basis for forming an expert opinion.

Chris Lakin is the President of Plateau Inc.  and a Professional Mechanical Engineer and Board Certified Building Inspection Engineer. Under the auspices of Mr. Lakin, Plateau has provided building damage and contamination consultations. The foundation for our business is built upon Chris’ thirty years of experience and education in engineering.

Board Certification is only endowed upon Professional Engineers whom have demonstrated the extensive experience in building inspection. An individual holding this certification will have not less than 13 years of education and experience behind them. What’s the difference? A CBIE is able to integrate various facets of building damage claims like no other.
