David Stegall is Principal Consultant of Risk Consulting & Expert Services, a nationwide, fee- for-service only, insurance and risk management consulting practice providing analysis, advice and professional services to commerce, industry and government.
He founded Risk Consulting & Expert Services in 2007 after having served many roles within the insurance industry over the previous 30 years. Mr. Stegall served as an underwriter, a retail insurance agent with local, regional, national and international retail broking firms, a national wholesale broker, an insurance carrier chief underwriting officer, an insurance carrier regional vice president, a managing general agent, an underwriting manager, and an executive for a captive insurance company, a self-insured fund and a reinsurer.
Mr. Stegall holds a B.A. in Communications from Auburn University. He is also a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), an Associate in Risk Management (ARM), an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) and a Registered Professional Adjuster (RPA). He is Past President of the Society of Risk Management Consultants (2016-17) and presently a Board member, a Member of the Board of Directors of Alabama Captive Association, Inc., a Member of the Association of Registered Professional Adjusters, a Member of the Defense Research Institute, a member of the American Association of Insurance Management Consultants, ARIAS-US and an Associate Member of the American Bar Association — Litigation Section — Tort Trial and Insurance Practices Committee and the General Committees: Insurance Coverage Litigation, Fidelity and Surety Law and Self-Insurers & Risk Managers.
He has been Retained as an expert on 137 forensic case assignments, in over 67 State cases in 53 Districts and 70 Federal cases in 43 districts. He has provided over 112 Expert Opinions, been Deposed over 56 times, approved, recognized and testified as an expert in five Trials and four Arbitration Hearings. His case assignments are divided between 72 for the Defense and 65 for Plaintiffs.
