Dr. Soheil Simzar, MD is a double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs micrographic surgeon with extensive experience in the diagnosis and medical/surgical management of skin disease and skin cancer. He has performed over 30,000 dermatologic surgeries and is known for careful clinical judgment, thorough documentation, and a practical understanding of how dermatology is delivered in real-world outpatient settings.

Education & Training

• University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA): undergraduate education, medical school, dermatology residency, and advanced surgical dermatology/Mohs training; served as Chief Resident.

He has helped establish in-house Mohs services in more than 20 offices across California and Washington, including workflow development, staff training, documentation standards, EMR templates, coordination of lab/CLIA-related needs, and clinic flow optimization. He recruits, trains, and supervises nurse practitioners and physician assistants and has developed structured onboarding and competency-based training protocols for both surgical and medical dermatology workflows. He has presented at medical conferences and published in peer-reviewed medical journals.

Dr. Simzar provides independent medical record review, deposition, and testimony for plaintiff or defense, with a conservative approach centered on accepted standards of care, reasonable physician judgment, and the clinical context at the time of treatment. He is experienced in evaluating allegations involving: dermatology and dermatologic surgery standard of care; Mohs vs. excision vs. nonsurgical management; pathology interpretation, margins, and tumor risk stratification; timing of diagnosis/referral/follow-up; reconstruction planning and postoperative management; informed consent and documentation; and cosmetic procedures (Botox, fillers, lasers/energy-based devices), including analysis of complications such as burns, dyspigmentation, scarring, and wound issues. He also reviews outpatient clinic workflows, documentation quality, and teledermatology processes when relevant.
