Prompt, accurate, and convenient medical consultation. Dr. Shepard is founding director of Marin County's acute and chronic dialysis units, which Marin General Hospital physicians voted first place among subspecialty services at the hospital in 2004.

Other experiences include: President, Marin Heart Association; Chairman, Marin General Intensive Care Unit; Chief of Medicine Marin General Hospital; founding member of the Marin Chapter of the Kidney Association and the Scientific Advisory Board for the Northern California Kidney Association.

After 40 years, Dr. Shepard closed his busy clinical practice in August 2005 to devote his full attention to legal consultation and expert witness services.

1951-1955: Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut; Sigma Xi honorary society; graduated with honors and distinction thesis in biology

1955-1959: Cornell University Medical College, New York City

1959-1961: Internship and first year medical residency, Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, New York

1961-1963: Active duty, United States Army, Fort Story, Virginia; awarded certificate of merit

1963-1964: Post Doctoral Fellowship under the auspices of National Institute of Health in Nephrology; research work done at St. Mary's Hospital and University of California, San Francisco

1964-1965: Resident in medicine, University of California Medical Center – Fort Miley Veterans' Administration Hospital

1965-66: Chief Medical Resident, University of California Medical Center – Fort Miley Veterans' Administration Hospital

Awards:

In October 2005, Dr. Shepard received a commendation for Clinical Excellence from the President of the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology. In 2007 he attended International Renal Failure Academy in Romania. In 2008 he participated in the Asia-Pacific Congress of Nephrology. In 2009 he attended the World Congress of Nephrology. In 2010, he participated in the National Renal Weekends, Renal Transplant Weekends, and the U.CF.S.F. Annual Advances in Internal Medicine. This year he attended the National Renal Weekends, Renal Transplant Weekends, and the International Society of Nephrology Forefronts Symposium on Proteinuria in Aarhus, Denmark
