Services Include:
Interviews and direct evaluation upon which to base expert opinion. Our assessment determines:
- the quantity and quality of lost services and benefits for surviving family members after the death of a family member, or in a family that has sustained an ambiguous loss (ie. brain injury or disability, where the person is still alive but not as they used to be).
- whether or not long-term patterns of providing such services and benefits to family members exists and the likelihood these services and benefits would continue.
- what is unique to a particular family’s loss based on their structure/function, culture, and patterns of having been provided services and benefits by the deceased or injured family member.
- how the deceased or injured family member’s services and benefits to his/her family compares to the average for THAT region/culture (e.g. the number of hours a father/mother performs household or child care tasks).
Written report documenting this evaluation and expert opinion
Depositions and Trial Testimony
- Provide jurors with a research-based family assessment to assist jurors to understand more precisely the contributions of the deceased or inured family member in a particular family (rather than relying on their personal experiences, which can be biased)
Consultation in lieu of testimony. Identify those services and benefits that are replaceable or those that have to be approximated
