Barry Formisano has been an independent welding consultant since 1992, with 30+ years of academic and practical hands-on experience in the welding industry involving research and development and industrial applications of welding procedures and specifications, weld failure analysis, welding fabrication, welder performance qualifications, welding safety, and nondestructive and destructive testing and inspection.
As a consulting and testifying expert witness he has been qualified as an expert, and has been retained by both plaintiffs and defendants for lawsuits involving product liability, manufacturing defects, personal injury, welding safety and welding codes compliance. He holds degrees in welding technology, mathematics and science; in addition to college level teaching credentials in the field of welding; and has several technical publications. Previous employment includes positions with the United States Department of Energy Nuclear Weapons Laboratory (DOE) and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Laboratory; these positions required a high level security "Q" clearance.
Mr. Formisano has been an American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector for over 25 years.
As an independent welding consultant, he routinely authors welding procedures and specifications, performs weld inspections, conducts welder qualification testing, and weld failure analysis for many Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Formisano has served on many technical advisory committees including the American Bar Association's — Design Division Committee of Construction Law.
