J.B. Shepherd & Company, Inc. - Forensic Electrical Engineers
Areas of Expertise: Electrical Engineering
INSURANCE PROFESSIONALS
Claims for losses involving electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment often present adjusters with difficult technical questions beyond the coverage issues involved. We travel to the loss site, interview the Insured, and witnesses to determine cause and origin of the loss, evaluate restoration and replacement alternatives and present a professional, illustrated report to the adjuster. We follow up with advice and counsel through the settlement process.
ATTORNEYS
We are very effective in litigation support. We assist attorneys in their evaluation of the merits of impending action and consult with counsel during preparation for trial. Our principals and associates are experts in many fields of engineering practice. We can also assist in locating an expert if the required areas of expertise are beyond our scope. We are available to counsel for either plaintiff or defense and as advisors and experts empaneled by the Court. We have also served as a neutral on a panel of arbitrators.
GOVERNMENT
Our guidance and counsel has been beneficial to policy makers, public works officials, planners and legal departments of both state and local government. The accommodation of electric utilities in public rights-of-way and the options for removing overhead poles and wires present issues that we have resolved by mediating negotiations with R/W users.
PRIVATE INDUSTRY
Builders and developers face the high costs of the underground infrastructure mandated by local codes. We have been instrumental in working with utilities and their customers to reduce the cost of under grounding through innovative design and properly evaluating the comparative costs of overhead and underground. We continue to provide the benefit of our engineering and management experience to the electric utility industry in the development of design and construction standards.
