Kay Coulter, CRNI, VA-BC is a legal nurse consultant who provides legal case review and expert opinion for intravenous therapy/infusion-related malpractice issues; and has been doing so for over 18 years during which time she has consulted on over 100 cases.
Kay will provide a thorough, honest opinion using current IV therapy references and INS Standards of Practice for any case (plaintiff or defense) set before her. She is a proficient infusion therapy clinician who has experience in the outpatient and acute care settings; accessing implanted venous ports, placing peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), peripheral midlines and peripheral IV catheters, performing venipuncture for blood collection and IV medication administration.
Kay's area of expertise includes acute care and ambulatory infusion/outpatient infusion practice, CDC guidelines related to IV therapy, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), INS Standards of Practice, IV related injuries, Phenergan extravasation, therapeutic phlebotomy, and Vancomycin infusion complications.
