Dan has worked in Product Liability and Intellectual Property (IP) for most of his career. He primarily runs a consultancy for early-phase development of medical devices. He is a member of several other startups in medical devices and consumer and industrial products. He maintains a faculty appointment in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Washington and performs humanitarian work to improve our world.
He started out working for a Product Liability Engineering firm, continued taking various legal projects while he completed his MSE and PhD degrees. When he switched from academia to the medical device field he added IP and patent experience. He has a number of US and International patents issued and more in process.
One thread throughout his professional background is designing for humans, or modifying the task such that the human can do it better and more safely. To this end he still maintains his Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (CPE #719).
