Dr. Steven D. Lin has worked with world-renowned hand and upper-extremity surgeons across the United States and abroad. He trained with Dr. A. Lee Osterman at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Dr. Scott H. Kozin at Shriner's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, gaining experience in all aspects of upper extremity reconstruction—from the shoulder to the fingertips. His special interests include wrist arthroscopy, microsurgery, sports injuries, arthritis, and upper extremity trauma.
Dr. Lin is also comprehensively trained in Orthopaedic Trauma and General Orthopaedics. He received extensive training at the University of Southern California and Los Angeles County General Hospitals, caring for patients ranging from USC athletes to individuals requiring high-energy trauma reconstruction. He has multiple publications presented at national meetings and has a true passion for medicine, continuing to educate students at USC Arcadia Hospital and Huntington Health, Cedars-Sinai Affiliates.
Born at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena and raised locally in Arcadia, Dr. Lin is proud to serve the community in which he was raised. He volunteers in community outreach programs, lectures at conferences, devotes time to underserved populations on medical missions, and serves as a team physician for local high school and college sports programs. He has also served multiple terms as Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Methodist Hospital of Southern California.
Dr. Lin has been recognized by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery for demonstrating excellence in hand surgery beyond the standard orthopaedic training. This recognition reflects his advanced training, a practice focused primarily on hand and upper extremity surgery, and contributions to the field.
He has fulfilled the rigorous requirements for membership in prestigious professional societies through clinical experience, specialized education, research, teaching responsibilities, and publications in peer-reviewed journals. He holds active memberships in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), and the American Association of Hand Surgery (AAHS).
Dr. Lin is a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) for the state of California, providing critical medical-legal opinions in areas such as Worker's Compensation. He is an active treating physician in Orthopaedic Surgery and Hand Surgery and is accepting new worker's compensation cases. He is also available for Agreed Medical Evaluations, AOE/COE Evaluations, Treatment, SIBTF Evaluations, Independent Medical Evaluations (IME), and personal injury cases. His insights and assessments have been instrumental in helping individuals navigate complex legal and medical challenges.
