Dr. Patricia J. Bartzak, DNP, RN, CMSRN, TCRN, CNRN is a direct care Registered Nurse with practice in a level one trauma center in the northeast. Dr. Bartzak has more than 20 years of bedside experience with multiple nursing certifications including medical-surgical, trauma care, neuroscience nursing, as well as cardiac and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS). Dr. Bartzak has practice experience with cardiac, stable ventilator and geriatric-psychiatry patients and is telemetry-certified. Continued active contributions to the field of nursing as nurse mentor, nurse researcher, professional journal column editor and leadership initiatives through active participation in the nursing profession. Board member and Secretary of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nursing (AMSN), MACRA Clinical Subcommittee on Sepsis and Emergency Medicine. Attended intensive Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) at The Fuld Institute at The Ohio State University to implement a research initiative for a 13,000 member professional nursing organization. Co-Chair of American Nurses Association (ANA) 4th Edition Nursing Scope & Standards of Practice (April, 2021) and current AMSN Board Liaison for the AMSN 7th edition of Medical-Surgical Nursing Scope & Standards of Practice. Dr. Bartzak is the Safe Bedside Nursing column editor for Medical Surgical Nursing, a peer-reviewed journal of AMSN. Dr. Bartzak is well-versed in research protocols, and has a program of research in trauma nursing. Dr. Bartzak maintains CITI certification for nursing research. Dr. Bartzak views nursing as a way of life. She has taught nursing at all levels of educational preparation: associates, bachelors, masters and doctoral levels. Dr. Bartzak is a fierce advocate for her patients with a focus on ensuring that nursing standards are met. Dr. Bartzak has expert witness experience, and is know for her meticulous medical record review, footnoted and referenced information to supplement her own knowledge and experience to bring critical information and insight to a case. Reviewed more than 80 cases in 8 years, about a dozen depositions for plaintiff and defense.
