I have provided expert witness testimony 20 times in deposition and 7 times in court, in intellectual property cases involving design patents, utility patents, trademarks, trade dress, and copyright infringement.
I am an industrial designer with 30 years of experience designing and engineering consumer products, power tools, appliances, consumer electronics, industrial & commercial equipment, medical technology, packaging, virtual reality, additionally specializing in ergonomics, human factors, and brand strategy.
I am listed as inventor on over 50 patents, and have received over 30 design awards for my work, including the "Design of Decade Award" from Business Week. In 2018 I was elected into the IDSA Fellowship, industrial design's "Hall of Fame". I have published two books on design and have been invited as a keynote speaker at over 50 conferences, trade shows, and public events. I am currently working towards my Ph.D. in Learning Sciences, focussing on the cognitive psychology of design in virtual reality environments.
My intellectual property work includes litigation support in cases involving validity and infringement, in areas concerning claim construction, functionality, obviousness, anticipation, indefiniteness, new matter, and secondary considerations. These analyses and testimonies have been in various stages of litigation including JAMS mediation, ITC, IPR and PTAB.
