Former banking regulator with over 24 years experience in bank regulation (OTS/OCC/FHLB) and over 30 years combined experience in the financial services industry. In my current role as an independent consultant, my experience includes: • Serving as an expert and consulting witness in bank related litigation. Engagements have included failed bank litigation (engaged by plaintiff), pre-litigation analysis (FDIC) and a claim brought by a commercial real estate borrower against the lender (engaged by defendant). As a former regulator, my experience included: • Examination and supervisory responsibility for a diverse caseload of institutions, individually as large as approximately $60 billion in assets. • Review and evaluation of banking acquisitions, recapitalizations, debt restructurings, capital market transactions, appraisals of banks converting from mutual to stock ownership, and proposals regarding innovative banking business plans and strategies. • Evaluation and critique of loan loss methodologies, accounting issues and real estate appraisals. • Forensic examinations of fraudulent loan transactions, questionable insider dealings and false financial reporting. • Analysis of interest rate risk, credit risk, capital adequacy and operational soundness. • Evaluation of the sufficiency of independent audits and auditor liability related to failed banks. • Technical assistance and support provided to U.S. Treasury Department and U.S. Justice Department attorneys for cases regarding false financial reporting, supervisory goodwill, fraudulent loan and other transactions, and violations of law and regulations. Prior to serving as a regulator, my experience also included public accounting with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte), in banking as Controller, International Division for First Atlanta Bank, and as a licensed securities broker with Prudential-Bache Securities.
