I have been the Chief of Retina at NY Medical College for 30 years and actively teach ophthalmology residents and medical students on a daily basis . I also am well versed in all fields of Ophthalmology and medicine .I did a straight medicine Internship at the Univ of Massachusetts  > I was on the maiden voyages of Project Orbis a humanitarian mission helping people around the world . Geraldo Rivera interviewed me for 20/20 TV show while working on Project Orbis . I was the inventor of sutureless pars plana vitrectomy and had all the initial patents on it starting in 1996 . This technique is now used in all vitrectomies in the world . I also hold several other well known patents all being sold in the market place and commercially available and successful. One of the recent and most successful ones recommended by  our Academy (AAO) is the Josephberg — Besser scleral depressor used by many retinal specialists around the world to diagnose retinal diseases , conditions and retinal tears . In 2017 I was voted by MY PEERS  in the ASRS , (the American Society of Retinal Specialists , the largest organization of retinal specialists in the world), into the "Retina hall of Fame" as stated above .
