Years in Practice/of Experience: 14

Dr. Goodwin is one of less than 50 physicians in the country who are triple board-certified in Brain Injury Medicine, Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She is experienced in caring for patients and opining in cases that involve catastrophic injury involving many body systems,  mild TBI /"concussion" to severe TBI, birth injuries, non-accidental trauma, peripheral nerve injuries, cognitive disability.

When young patients are still developing, neurological injuries have profound implication on education / vocation, ability to walk/talk/interact with peers/drive/live independently, etc. Pediatric physiatrists are unique experts in neurodevelopment and can opine on all of these areas as children grow into adulthood. She is well-versed in predicting long-term rehabilitation potential for a pediatric patients, something critically important for both plaintiff and defense teams.

Dr. Goodwin is extensively trained in managing multi-disciplinary rehabilitation teams, ordering adaptive equipment, therapies, bracing, school accommodations, activity/exercise limitations and return-to-play for sports.

She has a track-record of public speaking from an early age and taught as faculty of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.  She enjoys breaking down difficult scientific concepts, explaining them with analogies that jurors and judges can understand.   She relies on solid old-fashioned physical exam skills to pick up nuanced details of a case and applies that rigor when reviewing documentation of other medical personnel.  She firmly believes that the most important details of a case are often what is not documented, ordered or performed.  She also makes great effort to turn over all stones in cases order to find missing records, inconsistencies, evidence of non-compliance or evidence of copying and pasting within the Electronic Medical Record.

Lastly, she handles her cases with integrity, holding a firm belief that she may not tell an attorney what he or she wants to hear but she will always tell them what they should know so that they can best advocate for their client and minimize "surprises" from the opposing side.
