Dr. Stone served as the Medical and Fellowship Director for the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit at the Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas from 1992- May 2016. He is one of the first 60 physicians in the U.S.A. to receive his certification in Wound Care. He has been active in hyperbaric medicine and wound care since 1985 and has trained many physicians in the field.
A past president and vice president of the Texas Affiliate of the American Diabetes Association, Dr. Stone received his medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and a Master of Public Health from Harvard University. He completed a residency in aerospace medicine and a fellowship in hyperbaric medicine and wound care at the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base. Dr. Stone helped develop the Army's hyperbaric medicine program. He is certified in hyperbaric medicine and board certified aerospace medicine. He is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Academy of Wound Care Management, and a Certified Wound Specialist. Dr. Stone has been widely published in many medical journals regarding his expertise in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. He has published articles on hyperbaric oxygenation, decompression sickness, the diabetic foot and other wound issues. He has specific expertise in pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers and other chronic non-healing wounds. He is both an avid pilot and scuba diver. He has served on several panels and boards across Texas and the United States.
While serving our country as an Army physician, he received numerous honors including Senior Army Flight Surgeon Wings, promotion to the rank of Major, and the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. Dr. Stone is created with treating the first military injured soldiers from the Gulf War with Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care
Dr. Stone was also chosen as Presbyterian Healthcare System's “Outstanding Physician for Community Service" in 1997.
