  1. I am a registered nurse licensed in the State of New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania and certified in Nursing Administration, Advanced and Legal Nurse Consulting. I am familiar with the State Department of Health Nursing Code of Practice and Standards of Care, the Center for Medicare Regulations (CMS) and The Joint Commission for Hospitals (TJC) Standards of Care.
  2. I am a nurse with over 40 years of broad clinical nursing experience (inpatient and surgical) including 25 years of senior nursing leadership roles in healthcare organizations. I have been actively involved in nursing practice and teaching within the past 5 years. I received my nursing education at Easton Hospital School of Nursing and Hunter College. I have a MBA degree in Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a PhD in Nursing Research from Columbia University School of Nursing.
  3. I have served as a staff nurse, Supervisor and Director in Perioperative Services at NYU Medical Center and Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital, Founding Director of Princeton Surgical Center and as the Vice-President of Nursing at the Medical Center at Princeton (now University Hospital of Princeton), Brooklyn Hospital Center, and Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens and most recently as Vice-President of Nursing and Patient Care Services for New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Over the past 25 years, I have been responsible for patient care leadership, education, professional credentialing and risk and quality management at the hospitals in which I have served. I also served as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University School of Nursing.
  4. My role in risk and quality management was to investigate deviations of care for all quality issues that occurred including a review of failure to rescue or diagnose situations on an individual level and trends hospital-wide. I was responsible to assure that standards of care were evidence based, staff were educated on the content and benefits of the policy and that events were individually investigated to understand cause.  Each incident was evaluated to determine whether the standard of care was provided and to decide what preventive process, educational or remedial, was needed to be taken based on the incident findings.  I am a Nurse Executive, Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and Expert Witness with experience providing expert reports and testimony as an employer and expert witness as they concern actions taken for breaches in behavior or standards of care.  My primary focus is on nursing standards of care with a strong understanding of how hospitals work and how such care is provided.
