Michael John Lim, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (July 28, 2017) and a Qualified Medical Evaluator in orthopaedic surgery (2022), both achieved on his first attempt. He completed his fellowship in joints and lower extremity reconstruction at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, California (August 2014 – August 2015), following his orthopaedic surgery internship and residency at LA County/University of Southern California (June 2009 – June 2014). He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Diego (September 2004 – June 2009), and his Bachelor of Science in Computational Biology and Biomedical Ethics from Brown University (September 1999 – May 2003).

Dr. Lim is currently practicing at Select Orthopedic Specialist (February 2022 to present) in Los Angeles, California. His prior professional experience includes Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group in Santa Cruz, California (July 2019 – February 2022), Eastern Medical Group within ECHN Healthcare Network in Tolland, Connecticut (November 2018 – May 2019), Surgical Associates of Milford, P.C. in Milford, Connecticut (August 2017 – October 2018), and Middlesex Orthopedic Surgeons, P.C. in Middletown, Connecticut (August 2015 – June 2017). He is clinically active at PIH Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles (April 2022 to present), and previously held active privileges at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz (July 2019 – November 2022) and courtesy privileges at El Camino Los Gatos (March 2020 – November 2022).

His targeted areas of practice include primary and revision total hip arthroplasty using the anterior approach, primary and revision total knee arthroplasty, unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, and robotic total joint replacement. He also performs shoulder arthroplasty and arthroscopic care, general orthopaedics and fracture management, and knee arthroscopy. Dr. Lim is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), and he is proficient in Korean and Spanish.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Lim has been involved in orthopaedic research and academic presentations. His research includes studies on osteochondral allograft reconstruction, neurotoxin effects on muscle function, and muscle length-tension relationships, with publications in journals such as Muscle & Nerve (2014) and Developmental Medicine & Child Neurology (2007), as well as additional work pending submission. He has presented at major conferences including the AAOS Annual Meeting (2015) and the Orthopaedic Research Society Conferences (2008 and 2009). He has also completed specialized courses such as the Oxford Unicompartmental Arthroplasty course (Denver, 2015), the Contemporary Solutions in Joint Surgery program (Pasadena, 2014), the International Congress of Joint Reconstruction (Las Vegas, 2012 – Shoulder Reconstruction), and the AO Resident Basic Course (August 2010).
